If We Try Different Point Of View

Edit Posted by with No comments

I often heard people around me whining and complaining about their life. Their paycheck isn’t enough, not get enough sleep, their food is tasteless and some others complaining about life. Well… I’m not gonna lie because sometimes I do that too. But not often :-)

But then I got a chance to watch a beautiful movie titled “The Fault In Our Stars”. Yeah… You can scroll down on my page and you can see 4 others article I wrote about it. But I’m not gonna write about that here. I want to write a reflection I do after watching that movie.

If you happen to get a chance to watch this movie, please kindly look for this scene so we can discuss this easier.

“…we may not look like much but between the three of us we have five legs, four eyes, and two and a half working pairs of lungs but we also have two dozen eggs so if I were you, I would go back inside.”

So… Here’s what I think. We often see people and automatically judge them. Whether they happy, they sad, they good, they bad and whatsoever. But maybe we don’t see how they feel really are.

I sometimes find that people who got very bad health (terminal ill or chronic ones) tend to act normal and happy. As you can see in the movie. They don’t want people to think they need pity or anything like that. They don’t want the world to see their weakness and still want to make their live useful and make the world a better place to live.

if they, who apparently not “normal”, still think that their life is great, then why others who actually “normal” still think that their life isn’t great? Maybe ‘lack of gratitude’ is the reason.

So… maybe I want to said it to myself. Stop whining and complaining about everything and start to gratitude about something. Live is more beautiful if we keep on thankful for everything we had.

Augustus Waters' Eulogy For Hazel Grace Lancaster

Edit Posted by with No comments

“Mr. Van Houten, I’m a good person, but a shitty writer. You’re a shitty person, but a good writer. I think we’d make a good team.

I don’t want to ask you for any favors… but if you have the time, and from what I saw, you have plenty, please fix this for me. It’s a eulogy for Hazel.  She asked me to write one, and I’m trying. I just… I could use a little flair.

See, the thing is, we all want to be remembered. But Hazel’s different. Hazel knows the truth. She didn’t want a million admirers. She just wanted one. And she got it.

Maybe she wasn’t loved widely, but she was loved deeply. And isn’t that more than most of us get?

When Hazel was sick, I knew I was dying… but I didn’t want to say so.  She was in the ICU, and I snuck in for 10 minutes and I sat with her, before I got caught.

Her eyes were closed. Her skin, pale. But her hands were still her hands. Still warm, and her nails were painted this dark blue-black color and I just held them. And I just held them and what a worthless world that would be.

She’s so beautiful. You don’t get tired of looking at her. You never worry if she’s smarter than you because you know she is. She’s funny without ever being mean.

I love her.

God, I love her.

I’m so lucky to love her, Van Houten.

You don’t get to choose if you get hurt in this world but you do have a say in who hurts you. And I like my choices. I hope she likes hers.

Okay, Hazel Grace?”

Isaac's Eulogy For Augustus Waters

Edit Posted by with No comments

“Augustus Waters was a cocky son of a bitch. But we forgave him. Not because of his superhuman good looks or because he only got 19 years when he should’ve gotten way more…

But when the scientists from the future, come to my house with robot eyes and they tell me to try them on… I’m gonna tell those scientists to piss off, because… because Gus, I don’t even want to see a world without you. I don’t.

I don’t want to see a world without Augustus Waters.

And I don’t know… This is just so hard…”
